Meet Our Blender, Pt. 1 – Why Bruetta?

Meet Our Blender, Pt. 1 – Why Bruetta?

An interview with our tea blender, Part 1.

Our tea blender is a leader in the industry and very selective about who he works with.

We asked him how BruLid as a brewing method influenced his decision...

Bruetta: Why did you choose to partner with Bruetta, and what should we call you? “Tea Master?”

Blender: [Laughs.] No, that elevates it beyond craft. Blending tea is more straight-forward. It is a craft… it is work and taste and intention…. It is accessible.

Tea is a very accessible bit of magic and grace you can add to your day, every day. It’s no different than craft beer except that instead of something like 4-6 dollars for a very exquisite glass of beer, with tea you’re only using, oh, 2 ½ or 5 grams per cup of tea leaves? So... it’s only something like 20 or 30 cents per cup to have that feeling of enjoying something that has been finely crafted. Even at the most expensive levels tea it is still a very affordable “pleasure of the day.”

And what is so exciting about your lid is that it makes it easier to enjoy that quality moment anywhere, anytime. With the BruLid, suddenly the quickest, easiest way to make tea is also that quality, crafted taste---and that is exciting. That is new.

Another thing that is new that your lid does is make that experience more of a relationship… consumers can change the taste in subtle ways… someone can mix flavors, or put more or less tea in there because maybe they like to drink it super hot or because of how they want the 2nd or 3rd steep to turn out. So, to a certain degree, it is not just us as the blender crafting tea on our end… the BruLid creates a relationship between the user and their tea because they control the variables. It makes that cup an ongoing dance.

Everyone else in the industry is trying to create the same cup across the board. In this case, we’re kind of throwing that out the window and saying, “Well, now you can kind of throttle it back or up, put in more or less,” or “I like to drink it hot so I’ll tweak it this way” or “I like to steep it forever and drink it cold, or even throw ice in it, so I’ll tweak it that way.” You can do all of those things with that BruLid and still get exactly what you want. It’s exciting to think about. It’s really cool.
